The Macallan has released a limited-edition whisky, A Night On Earth In Scotland, inspired by Hogmanay and Scotland’s New Year’s Eve festivities. It is part of a gifting series exploring different destinations and was created in collaboration with Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn.
The vibrant presentation box encasing the colourful packaging was designed to evoke the spirited journey of Hogmanay, with red for merriment, vitality, good fortune and joy; blue, reminiscent of a winter evening in Scotland and its peaceful stillness; and amber, a tribute to the sweet aromas of soft butter and freshly baked shortbread.
The packaging also symbolizes the custom of first footing, in which the first person to cross the threshold of a home in Scotland on Hogmanay brings whisky, coal and shortbread as tokens of goodwill and good luck for the new year.

Its natural colour of warm ember is a tribute to the role of fire in the Hogmanay festivities. Crafted from a selection of The Macallan’s exceptional sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, along with American ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky has a vanilla sweetness reminiscent of traditional shortbread biscuits, often gifted and eaten at Hogmanay. Notes of dried orange and spice further evoke the aromas and flavours of the season. The expression has a soft, velvety mouthfeel, reflecting The Macallan’s commitment to incomparable craftsmanship and uncompromised excellence.
Jaume Ferras, Global Creative Director at The Macallan, said: “There is one night of the year when friends, family and loved ones come together. A night of warm memories and plans for the future, and The Macallan A Night On Earth In Scotland has been specially created in collaboration with Erica Dorn to capture the essence of that unique moment.
“A Night On Earth In Scotland is such a memorable whisky, which draws on inspiration from the aromas of the finest shortbread. These sweet, comforting, buttery flavours play an important part in New Year traditions in Scotland, and an essential role in the flavour profile of this unique single malt.
“This is the perfect whisky for special moments, best enjoyed with those who mean the most to you, while reminiscing of the year past and looking to the future.”
A Night On Earth In Scotland is available via their website at an RRP of £90.
