Dr Bill Lumsden, the acclaimed Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie, has crafted a deliciously nutty and spicy single malt Scotch whisky, inspired by his favourite style of sherry – Amontillado.
Exclusively available in Australia and the UK, Glenmorangie Amontillado Finish is the fourth release in the Distillery’s Barrel Select Release series. With its notes of cashews, clove, ginger, citrus tones, and the signature Glenmorangie fruitiness, this 12-year-old whisky is sure to delight.
To make this special whisky, Dr Bill sourced a few rare Amontillado casks, which were then filled with a mellow whisky aged for eight years in American white oak bourbon barrels. After four years of ageing in the Amontillado casks, the whisky was finished with flavours of sherry, dried fruit, cashews, peaches, clove, ginger, orange, and lemon.
He said: “I have always loved the nuttier, spicier tastes of Amontillado – my favourite style of sherry. It’s such a delight to bring its casks’ sherried influences to our whisky’s signature delicate style for this special release. Aromas of dried fruit and cashews are balanced with peaches, while tastes of clove and ginger contrast wonderfully with orange and lemon.
